I see that Chuck has taken it upon himself to appoint himself as
Extreme Ruler and Grand Poobah of rec.boats. Now if anyone attempts to post something that he, and he only deems not worthy of his eyes, he takes it upon himself to change the subject to something stupid. How does everyone else feel about that? Do you need someone to proofread your posts, and edit the subject line for you? I don't. I can damned well choose what I want to read by myself. |

You may be smart enough to choose what you want to read, all by yourself, but you must be too dam* dumb to know how to navigate to the appropriate newsgroups to post your political nonsense. There is no ruler or poohbah at rec.boats. This is a group organized so people can get together on the net and discuss boats, boating, and boating related topics. Imagine a few guys hanging out at a waterfront coffee shop to discuss boats. Along comes some jerk who jumps into the middle of he conversation and says, "Hey, what do you think about those terrorist-sympathizing, Clinton appointed Democratic judges?" or "Look what the Idiot In Chief wants to do next in Iraq!" Some of the guys gathered to discuss boats would be polite enough to keep their mouths shut and endure the annoying jerk, for at least a while. Others aren't so polite, or so patient. Ask yourself this, as you swoon over your self centered reflection in the nearest available mirror. What is worse? Changing the header on a single topic, or trying to fu*k up the newsgroup? Despite owning some little skiff and going fishing once in a while, you seldom express any interest in boating related topics. You're far more interested in GD'ing George Bush and stirring up political nonsense than in talking boats, so the obvious question is: Why the hell don't you take your political garbage off to some newsgroup or discussion group organized for that purpose? You shouldn't be surprised when boaters get ****ed off at non boaters trying to turn the boating discussion group into a political campaign platform. For either side. But if you keep practicing your outrageous and inconsiderate behavior, don't be surprised when once in a while one of the boaters calls you to task for it. A few others who know darn well who they are can expect the same as well. So, what's worse? Changing the header on a post or raising your middle finger to the basic purposes for which a group has gathered and insisting that you *should* be allowed your daily political rant and name-calling marathons? You life must be one empty place if you have to post ridiculously off topic political stuff to a boating NG just to fill the time. How does it feel to be the annoyed, instead of the one annoying, for a change? |

I disagree with your assesment, for almost a year Chuck has been emphasizing the importance of keeping the inflamatory posts out of the NG, without any bias. He does have a tendency to highlight those who seem to be contributing the greatest noise to signal ratio, but does not have a list of "buds". What do you think about posting political post, in a political NG and using rec.boats to discuss boats and non inflamatory posts? You and I both know that politics and religion in rec.boats will always end up in a long boring flamefest. |

How come SOME here can post off topic, political flame fests and you don't do a damned thing about it, then someone else does it, and you instantly put on your paper hat and play god of rec.boats? Fair question. There's a difference between general off topic stuff that appears here, "Oh, crap, my F250 wouldn't start this morning. (or) You should see the nifty lens I just bought for my camera. (or) My kids are home visiting from their college in East Overshirt (yawners, all....sorry) and posting cut and pastes of controversial political items. Do you think you're the only person in the group who can read the papers or form a poliltical opinion? If you are, then why waste that talent on people who obviously aren't prepared to appreciate it? If you are not, then why should your particular political opinion be injected into a discussion group organized to discuss boats and boats every day? Truth is, Bass, you simply enjoy a good fight. You know that by posting your anti-Bush, anti-war, anti-conservative values stuff here that you will draw out the same old half dozen outraged conservatives to give you one. You can exchange your "I'm not Kevin, but you are this or that......" with somebody who you can fantasize might actually give a rip whether you're Kevin, Doris, Belinda, or Sam. People who take the attitude "F everybody else, I'm going to do what I want and pay no attention to whether its appropriate, welcome, in good taste, or what not" wear on me. So your daily posting routine of looking for some anti-Bush, anti-war, anti-conservative values newspaper clipping to put in a boating newsgroup and then hoping that somebody engages you in a flame fest wears on me. It probably wears on me worse because I agree with many of the political positions you claim to espouse, so your outrageous behavior reflects badly not only on you, but on anybody who might agree with some of the philosophies you promote. Perhaps you should get off of your high horse. YOU post off topic, also, and YOU participate in off topic posts. Do you find yourself annoying? Please be sure to point out to me when next I decide to cut and paste controversial and political nonsense here. I'll deserve to be taken out and strung up by my nads, nailed to a tree. Do I get on your case a lot for making OT political posts. Yeah. Suppose that could be because you do it a lot? You do have a point though. I should be consistent. I'll try not to let any of your political manure go under the radar in the future. You also need to tune up your own poobah eye a bit. I tossed a bit of flak at one of your favorite posters, who is an arch conservative, just like I did you this morning. By the way, I can write 100 lines of stuff appropriate for the NG in about 10 minutes. Don't flatter yourself that I spend any time at it. |

The majority of the threads I start are boating, humor, food or sports related (15 over the past month). Over the entire summer all the threads I started were on topic or OT non political. ;-) |
