Joy of Cooking has a two-page description of what they call the "Master Recipe" for cookies - a basic template from which about 20 different kinds can be made. It's not much different for soup. There was a small greasy spoon here in town and the guy had his own "house" salad dressing and people really liked it. it was 1/2 mayonaise, and 1/2 Ketchup. That was all. Heh! A place here does that - special lemon-gorgonzola dressing. My favorite waiter said it's Newman's caesar with a lot of lemon added, and finely crumbled gorgonzola. |
