Tall tales of the sea.
"Shortwave Sportfishing" wrote in message ... So I had this idea while working on the Ranger this afternoon. To wit: I'm sponsoring a contest for rec.boats participants. The rules are simple The rules: 1 - There must be a minimum of fifteen participants in the Tall Tale contest for the prizes to be put into effect. 2 - The Tall Tale must be fiction or at the very least, told in the fashion of sitting around the bar going somebody one better. 3 - The Tall Tale must involve boating, cruising or fishing or a combination of those subjects. 4 - The Tall Tale must be sent to me via email - I will publicly acknowledge who has sent a tale here on rec.boats and repost it to rec.boats. 5 - I will ask for a panel of non-participants in this contest to judge the entries. The Prizes: First Place - $75 Second Place - $25. Third Place - haven't figured that out yet. So, before sending me your entries, what do you folks think - good idea? Rather than fabricating a story how about a real life adventure? I am sure we have some members with some pretty scary, real life tales to tell. I realize that there is no way to verify if the story is correct (such as Skippers old tales) so we would operate on the honors system. I agree with others that no money prizes are needed. Lastly, regarding the judging staff.....there are too many folks here (myself included) with killfiles. We also have some folks who posted their outright dislike for other members here. Realizing that, perhaps it is best that the judging be done by you and your wife, especially since as you have been pretty impartial to the various persons and personalities here and your wife most likely does not read the NG. JMO. ;-) |
