"Larry" wrote in message ... Harry Krause wrote in news:4nsl1gFbtlj5U1 @individual.net: There are many problems with music downloaded via "binary" newsgroups, not the least of which is... low-fi. Horse****. There isn't any difference between 44.1Kbps and 44.1Kbps. For you audiofools, there are even FLAC newsgroups where uncompressing a FLAC file gets you the same bits as was on the original disk, but you can't tell the difference. Music is all sampled at 44.1Kbps. It's already corrupted before it gets to the store. It has been all your life, even in analog days. Music is made for R-A-D-I-O, which promotes and sells it. The bandwidth of FM is STILL 50 to 15,000 Hz. The only difference on the air is the 75 usec pre-emphasis/de-emphasis to reduce FM hiss....Still. What nonsense it is to think they care and spend extra money past whatever the consumers will tolerate. After all, it's only 44.1K samples, 3 times the highest frequency rate, but the electronics smooths it to sound good. Of course, these days, playing through those little tiny speakers they sell for $600 at the audiofool stores, it sounds like crap no matter how they make it. One woofer...how stupid. He's getting music to play in a BOAT, through tiny speakers, not Carnegie Hall on massive prosound speakers. It has no fidelity at all. Same old Harry....trollin' for the kick. Holy Crap!
