I don't think it really matters as long as one is counter rotating.

Assuming counter rotation, the most common configuration is for the props to rotate outward, ie, when viewed from astern the stbd prop turns clockwise, and the port prop counter clockwise (with forward motion). I believe the reason is that the thrust asymmetry is partially offset by propwalk when operating with a single engine. |

What kind of cat? But most turn outward.
