Fatal oklahoma boat crash....
I've ridden with Gordon many times, I don't think it was a drinking
issue. The boats were boat going the same direction when Gordon's boat made a sudden turn into the other boat. It looks like something broke in the steering system. Why not just *HAVE* a race, a real race, with official safety stuff, and lanes, and all the fixings ? A race requires too many permits and approvals. Calling it a "Poker Run" allows the whole thing to operate under the guise of a charity event. |

Well, from the info gathered, alcohol didn't have any part in the accident, The article stated that they were investigating if alcohol was a factor. My bet is was a major factor causing them to drive their go fast boats recklessly and resulting in the fatal accident. but now that you've mentioned it.... http://www.rrdailyherald.com/article...news/news1.txt |

Interesting to note that most of the folks were up
there in age - over 50 etc. Live long enough to be able to afford to die EXPENSIVELY, eh? |

The last boat to arrive can still win the pot...there's no need for a turbine powered boat running at 100mph. I'm no expert on poker runs but I've heard that the *real* event is all about finishing first in a thinly disguised race, and that winning the "pot" is a public relations after thought. That would not surprise me, Everytime I have seen these guys on the lakes I have been on they are running pretty fast for conditions. That is to say they are not the only ones on the lake.
