Waterscope - oysterbox - reverse periscode - seeing underwater
Anybody ever heard of someone using a device to see underwater while
kayaking? Like a reverse periscope? It could be as simple as a oysterbox / waterscope (water proof box with a glass bottom). I can't find any mention of the idea on countless google searches but it seems like it would be a really useful thing no? |

A local kayak shop sells them made by someone nearby. They are just a short section of white ABS pipe, thin-wall, about 6" diameter and an acrylic bottom. That isn't something too difficult to make. I can't see how you would lean over far enough to use such a thing. See; http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91309 |

I haven't looked lately but many biological supply companies used to have these in their catalogs for field classes. Pretty much as described above. Probably still do... Joe P. |

I can't see how you would lean over far enough to use such a thing. One needn't look straight down. If it is long enough, one could use it to look off obliquely at the bottom. Well, I don't have any clear water here, so it wouldn't work. |

A diving mask or goggles and the ability to roll are all the periscope one needs. ;-) |
