Waterscope - oysterbox - reverse periscode - seeing underwater

Anybody ever heard of someone using a device to see underwater while
kayaking? Like a reverse periscope? It could be as simple as a oysterbox /
waterscope (water proof box with a glass bottom). I can't find any mention
of the idea on countless google searches but it seems like it would be a
really useful thing no?

A local kayak shop sells them made by someone nearby. They are just a short
section of white ABS pipe, thin-wall, about 6" diameter and an acrylic bottom.
That isn't something too difficult to make.

A diving mask or goggles and the ability to roll are all the periscope
one needs. ;-)

I can't see how you would lean over far enough to use such a thing.

I haven't looked lately but many biological supply companies used to have
these in their catalogs for field classes. Pretty much as described above.
Probably still do...

One needn't look straight down. If it is long enough, one could use it
to look off obliquely at the bottom.

Well, I don't have any clear water here, so it wouldn't work.

Dude, can you spell "non sequitur"?
