Default Bowsprit lenght. How long?

I'm setting up a fully auto rope/chain windlass for a glass boat. I have to
set up a bowsprit to give a plow anchor room to swing without hitting the

Any ideas how to work this out or where to find the information? Some glass
boats seem to have extraordinarily long bow sprits. My boat has a ladder on
the bow and I'm worried about the leverage a bowsprit added to the bow of
the boat would produce.

Keep it as short as possible unless you are prepared to build a
supporting brace on the bottom. The anchor and rode can exert a lot
of downward force and can easily break an anchor sprit that is too
long.

Don't ask me how I know. :-)

It happened to somebody you know? :)

Ohhhhh yes, and it was such a work of art and fine craftsmanship.

Just had a minor structural issue as it turned out.
