Default I found out the cause of my overheating........

The marina replaced the impeller, lower unit pump and thermostat on the boat
yesterday. Out of 12 blades on the impeller, 3 were totally gone, 3 were
half gone and the remainder had cuts and nicks on the ends. This was not
damage that happened in one day but it certainly caused my overheating on
July 1st.

If the marina replaced the impeller when I asked them to earlier this season
I would never have had the overheating problem. I will let them slide on
this one but will make sure it the impeller is replaced every 2 years in
spring prior to launch. No sense monkeying around with a $40 part.

After I installed the VHF radio and antenna on the boat today I took it out
for a test run. It runs good and the temperature did not go above 155 even
at WOT or low idle. So far it looks like the engine or risers did not
suffer any damage and I may have dodged a bullet this time.

With sunny skies and temperatures in the 80's forecast for this weekend,
combined with light southerly winds (meaning a flat Lake) we will be on the
boat both Saturday and Sunday. My daughter came home for the weekend and
will be joining us, making it even more special.

Maybe our string of bad luck has ended.......most likely due to good Karma
according to some. ;-)
