I don't know if I can take much more.....

First the episode with the ignition switch on my son's car...$650

Next the boat engine overheats and who knows what that will cost.

My wife calls me downstairs at about 9:30 this morning to find our basement
flooded. The sump pump died and we had torrential rain all night. Our
basement is finished and all the carpeting and baseboards are lost, perhaps
even the lower course of drywall.

Well I just got done installing a new 3/4 hp 4,800 gph unit and I have to
wait to let it do it's job. More rain is on the way.

What a wonderful holiday weekend. What a great vacation.

What's next Lord? Come on......what's next!!

The flood waters have risen too high for cars to drive though. The fire
department stops and offers the man a ride to safety. He say, Thank you,
but I'll trust in the Lord to save me.
With the flood waters rising the rescue crew pulls up in a boat and offers
the man a ride to safety. He says, Thank you, but I'll trust in the Lord to
save me.
The man is sitting on his roof to escape the flood waters. A rescue
helipcopter flies over and the crew offers to take the man to safety. He
say, Thank you, but I'll trust in the Lord to save me.
The man drowns.
At the gates to heaven the man asks St. Peter why the Lord failed him in
spite of his faith.
St. Peter says, He sent you a firetruck, a rescue boat, and a rescue
helicopter. What more did you want!

You're doing all right; you went out and got a new pump. Now start praying.
Good luck, Jim.

Sorry to hear about your problems. One of the big problems with wet
wallboard not being replaced is mold and long term health problems for
all who live in the home.

As far as the slew of troubles, I am a big believer in Karma, maybe you

I'd be renting or buying a healthy sized dehumidifier. Some wallboard
is purposefully hung wet. The mission, at this point is to get
everything as dry as possible as soon as possible....

.... no guarantees :-(

We are waiting for a professional water cleanup team to show up. We have a
residential grade dehumidifier running already and fans on for circulation.
We got everything up off the floor.

The carpeting vacuumed dry by these guys, then torn out. I already have a
call into our insurance company to notify them that we hired a professional
company to mitigate damages.

After all the water is sucked up they will be placing 2 industrial sized
dehumidifiers and some heavy duty fans to help dry things out.

Looks like things will be under control once they show up and go to work.

Unbelievable that some folks get some sort of twisted pleasure hearing of
other folks problems. Instead of offering a word of hope they kick you in
the balls with a smile on their face.

Karma? My ass.

Look within yourself Reggie for some compassion and understanding. Then go
take a flying leap and screw yourself. I don't need that type of crap from
you, especially today and especially after all the crap I just went through.

Anyway.......

Looks like the emergency work.........water extraction, carpet tear out and
floor cleanup/disinfectant job........will run around $5,000 alone seeing it
happened on a holiday. Then we have to replace the carpet and
trim....probably another $2,500.

Add to that the cost of the boat engine repair staring at me.........while
having 2 kids in college.

I bet that makes Reggie really happy.

Horse****?

Yeah, I guess it is horse****.

Yep, we (*he*in your world) has an endorsement to cover sewer and drain
backup......$5,000 limit and it runs us $50/year. The cleanup cost
alone will eat that $5,000 up. In case you forgot, today is a

Time has proven me correct.

One would have to be pretty twisted to take my comments to mean I was
joyful at JimH's misfortune. But, that 'twist' has shown itself in the
past, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Sewer and drain backup is not the same as sump pump insurance, which is a
separate line in the insurance. I've gone through the flood in the
basement, about six years ago. Carpets, furniture, walls, etc. ruined. The
insurance paid for all but my $250 deductible.

If JimH does not have the same coverage, which apparently he doesn't, then
I'm sorry for him. But there is no call for his twisted accusations.

Horse****?

Yeah, I guess it is horse****.

Yep, we (*he*in your world) has an endorsement to cover sewer and drain
backup......$5,000 limit and it runs us $50/year. The cleanup cost
alone will eat that $5,000 up. In case you forgot, today is a
holiday.

Sorry John, our new carpeting and trim comes out of our pocket, as does
any furniture or other losses we will have seen.

Happy? I know Reggie is.

Some time ago, years maybe, I offered up an opinion on our boy "Reggie."

Look within yourself Reggie for some compassion and understanding. Then go

JimH,

Try to go back and read my post again. I started off by saying

"Sorry to hear about your problems."

I then added some recommendations from insurance companies and their
recommendations about mold after water damage and that you may need to
replace your wallboard. This is someone who is going beyond just lip
service, but is concerned about you and your family's long term safety.
Black Mold can kill or cause severe health problems.

I then made a comment about my persona belief about Karma. I was
showing you compassion and understanding from my perspective. I do
believe in Karma, and I do try to look inward when everything in my
world seems to be going crazy. I would make that same suggestion to any
one in my family who was had a similar rash of "accidents". Reread my
comments and then read your response to my comment and ask yourself, is
it possible that Karma may impact our life..

If JimH follows his normal MO, he will continue to talk about me getting
some twisting pleasure from his misfortune. We all have seen JimH cried
for years about Harry stalking him and his sick wife, publishing
personal info and pictures of him and his wife, and their home. How
Chuck published his home address and telephone number only to sheepishly
apologize when he learned someone had actually cached the web page that
showed JimH had made up the entire story.

Al Capp had a character who had a black cloud who followed him all over
the place. JimH definitely seems to have a black cloud following him.
If JimH doesn't want to believe in Karma that is ok, but if I was him, I
would be looking at anything that would get rid of that black cloud.
Trying to use the eastern philosophy of Karma to turn his luck around
could not hurt, and just possible might help.

Jim, just be glad you were home to catch the basement flood. if you
had been gone w/a faulty sump pump, and more wather coming in, you
could have lost a heck of a lot mroe than just carpet and some dry
wall. 20 years ago I was in the same situation, only it rained for
about three days, and when I got home, the basement had 3 feet of water
in it.

And it kept raining. I waded through and set a sump pump up and
anchored it with some cement blocks, ran the outlet tube out through a
basement window, and ran an extension chord to an outlet in the garage,
I wasn't going to plug it in while standing in water! That pump ran for
a good two days, and cycled every 10 minutes for the next three.

EVERYTHING in thebasement was lost. 19" color TV, washer , dryer, pool
table, some of my wifes antiques, complete with ancient ceramic doll
collection... gone.

There is one, so if you can look on the bright side.

Job (jobe) had worse problems than a flooded basement, and he saw
through it.

I agree. Karma? my ass!

And yes, it CAN be worse. I did have a great day taking my sone, wife
and three grandkids boating today, and swimming on a sandy beach in a
colve of Carlyle lake. Kids getting cranky it's time to come home. we
got out of the loading ramp, just in time to see a really nice Lowe
24ft. pontoon boat suffering the degredation of being pulled in by a
couple of jet ski's ( I give them fits, but they DID come to the guys
rescue)

The boat was origionally equipped with a 40 horse "something" which
wasn't enough, so the guy had just mounted a brand new Mariner 115 on
it, and this was the engines second voyage. Needless to say, the much
wo light and over stressed transom gave way, The engine was all but
submerged, being held on by some weak transom bolts and the control
cables. BTW, when the engine let loose, engine and transom broke loose
on the left side and the engine flopped over to the left as well, and
before the engine went under the drink, his prop caught, and nicked a
small but healthy gash in the rear of the right pontoon.

I'm glad I didn't have his problems.......

basement is finished and all the carpeting and baseboards are lost, perhaps
even the lower course of drywall.

Well I just got done installing a new 3/4 hp 4,800 gph unit and I have to
wait to let it do it's job. More rain is on the way.

What a wonderful holiday weekend. What a great vacation.

What's next Lord? Come on......what's next!!

Sorry to hear about your problems. One of the big problems with
wet wallboard not being replaced is mold and long term health
problems for all who live in the home.

As far as the slew of troubles, I am a big believer in Karma, maybe

Reread my

Horse****?

Yeah, I guess it is horse****.

Yep, we (*he*in your world) has an endorsement to cover sewer and
drain
backup......$5,000 limit and it runs us $50/year. The cleanup cost
alone will eat that $5,000 up. In case you forgot, today is a
holiday.

Sorry John, our new carpeting and trim comes out of our pocket, as
does
any furniture or other losses we will have seen.

Happy? I know Reggie is.

Some time ago, years maybe, I offered up an opinion on our boy
"Reggie."
Time has proven me correct.
One would have to be pretty twisted to take my comments to mean I was
joyful at JimH's misfortune. But, that 'twist' has shown itself in the
past, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Sewer and drain backup is not the same as sump pump insurance, which
is a
separate line in the insurance. I've gone through the flood in the
basement, about six years ago. Carpets, furniture, walls, etc. ruined.
The
insurance paid for all but my $250 deductible.

If JimH does not have the same coverage, which apparently he doesn't,
then
I'm sorry for him. But there is no call for his twisted accusations.

It *is* the same coverage with our insurance company and the only
endorsement available. $5,000 limit. $50/year.

What insurance company are you with that offers unlimited sump pump
insurance coverage ($250 deductible) for $25/year John? I will
contact them tomorrow and call all my family, friends and neighbors to
sign up.

Jim: your son called. His Democrat girlfriend is pregnant! :-)

ROTF! Our son has a couple of girlfriends.............which one?

Actually both of our kids are registered Democrats....................but
we love them anyway. ;-)

We are getting used to hearing the water extraction vacuum and hammers
pounding removing the baseboards and carpet strips.

To think we should be relaxing next to a pool with drinks in hand instead
of going through this.........

I will be calling John's insurance company tomorrow for that fantastic
coverage he got. I hope he replies. ;-)

Sorry to hear about your problems. One of the big problems with wet
wallboard not being replaced is mold and long term health problems for
all who live in the home.

As far as the slew of troubles, I am a big believer in Karma, maybe you
need to look within for the solution.

Karma can be a bitch. Hope *all* works out with him.

Kick him a few more times when he's down....I believe he's still twitching.
What kind of horse**** is that? I do hope he gets it all worked out.
Hopefully he had sump pump insurance in his homeowners policy (runs about
$25/year) and he'll get a new carpet and refinished basement out of it.
