My wife calls me downstairs at about 9:30 this morning to find our basement flooded. The sump pump died and we had torrential rain all night. Our basement is finished and all the carpeting and baseboards are lost, perhaps even the lower course of drywall. Well I just got done installing a new 3/4 hp 4,800 gph unit and I have to wait to let it do it's job. More rain is on the way. What a wonderful holiday weekend. What a great vacation. What's next Lord? Come on......what's next!! Sorry to hear about your problems. One of the big problems with wet wallboard not being replaced is mold and long term health problems for all who live in the home. As far as the slew of troubles, I am a big believer in Karma, maybe you need to look within for the solution. Karma can be a bitch. Hope *all* works out with him. -- John H ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** Kick him a few more times when he's down....I believe he's still twitching. What kind of horse**** is that? I do hope he gets it all worked out. Hopefully he had sump pump insurance in his homeowners policy (runs about $25/year) and he'll get a new carpet and refinished basement out of it. -- John H ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** Horse****? Yeah, I guess it is horse****. Yep, we (*he*in your world) has an endorsement to cover sewer and drain backup......$5,000 limit and it runs us $50/year. The cleanup cost alone will eat that $5,000 up. In case you forgot, today is a holiday. Sorry John, our new carpeting and trim comes out of our pocket, as does any furniture or other losses we will have seen. Happy? I know Reggie is. Some time ago, years maybe, I offered up an opinion on our boy "Reggie." Time has proven me correct. One would have to be pretty twisted to take my comments to mean I was joyful at JimH's misfortune. But, that 'twist' has shown itself in the past, so I shouldn't be surprised. Sewer and drain backup is not the same as sump pump insurance, which is a separate line in the insurance. I've gone through the flood in the basement, about six years ago. Carpets, furniture, walls, etc. ruined. The insurance paid for all but my $250 deductible. If JimH does not have the same coverage, which apparently he doesn't, then I'm sorry for him. But there is no call for his twisted accusations. -- John H That's just the way he is, John. Bipolar.
