That BuySell.com seems to be the only real web presence for
Nor'Westing. http://www.norwesting.com redirects there, and they do
seem to have most of both Nor'Westing's and BoatJournal's articles from
the past couple months:
http://www.buysell.com/StaticPage/de...f.aspx?spp=137

That's odd. I wonder why they are flying so low under the radar?
Jim

A number of people
including JimH have made very favorable comments about the magazine.

Agreed. It has always been an informative and enjoyable read.

That's quite a convoluted corporate structure. It appears to be a holding
company built upon other holding companies.

BoatJournel and Nor'westing are listed as "partners" to Buysell.com which is
a division of Classified Media Canada Holdings Inc. according to the
website, which appears to be a division of or connected to something called
Trader Classified Media. Trader Classified Media is a public company with
stock sold on the French Euronext-Eurolist and is described on their website
as follows:

__________________________________________________ _____

"Trader Classified Media is a global leader in classified
advertising, focusing on
the categories of vehicles, real estate, employment and general
household merchandise.

The Company delivers services to its customers through the
Internet, print, mobile
technologies and direct mail.

The Company produces 365 print titles, with 6 million readers per
week, and hosts 40 websites, with more than 13 million unique monthly
visitors (over 25 million unique monthly visitors including SouFun's traffic
of 12 million unique monthly visitors).

The Company was founded in 1987 and today employs 3,400 people
in 13 countries".

__________________________________________________ ________

There is a press release indicating that Trader Classified Media
acquired BuySell Ltd in July of 2005.

It's not clear if BoatJournel or Nor'westing are owned and/or
controlled by Trader Classified Media or any of its subsidiaries or
divisions.

Trader Classified Media appears to be involved in the marketing
of just about any product on earth.

Maybe Chuck can provide some insight.

You're out of date by a few days. Trader Classified Media was sold a
week or two ago the YPG Canada. YPG= Yellow Pages Group. I believe the
transaction was a multi-billion dollar deal. Don't really expect that
to change anything way down here on my level. If they decided that the
magazine in general didn't fit an overall business plan, we are
currently spinning off a lot of cash and profit and they would
certainly sell the magazine for its substantial trademark value rather
than just shut it down. (Ad revenues are up 400% since 2001, editorial
content up by 100%, page count is 225% of what it was 4 years ago).
I've survived two ownership changes already, and in each case the new
owners have kept me in place and actually increased my
responsibilities. But who knows?

I do hope they don't insist that we begin printing on yellow paper. :-)

I tell everybody who asks that w.w.w in front of Nor'westing.com stands
for Worlds Worst Website.

We publish a pretty good magazine. We run a crummy website.

Boat Journal is our Canadian sister publication. We share a lot of
content with them

Click on "previous articles" or something similar on the left hand side
of the page to get
a better overall feel for the magazine.

Send me your snail mail address to: and I'll mail you
a sample issue- (next week after I get back from boating. Relaunch in
the morning).

Odd, I don't know why my email address didn't print. One more try, if
you (or anybody else) would like a sample copy
