Bandwidth is not the issue, plenty of that. It's the general tone of
the newsgroup, which thanks to the efforts of you and a few others has
improved quite a bit.

Let's keep up the good work and get a few more of the boating regulars
back online instead of scaring them off.

What are you looking for in your next boat?

By suggesting you shove the political BS back up the orifice from which
it emerged.

You apparently admit that your post was a blatant troll, simply to see
who might respond? You obviously now admit it was OT.

No I didn't. OT does not necessarily equal troll. It was a post made in
good humor, nothing more.

Do you need a referral to a political website? Is that it? There are
hundreds where your
nonsense would be appropriate. Try this one: http://www.jbs.org/
People go there to yak yak about liberals, etc. Most people come here
to talk boats, and the political BS just attracts an element that dumps
extremist rheotric into a wide number of cross posted groups.

I don't cross-post, swear, name-call or the like. When there's a boating
topic of interest, I'll participate.

I, for one, will look forward to your future boating related posts in a
boating NG. If you want to post political crap here, be prepared for
some fallout. If the fallout makes you uncomfortable enough that you
need to lash out on the basis of personality, etc....good!

Who's the one lashing out? You responded to my post with the name calling.

I absolutely believe that the dedicated trolls in this NG are *not*
bothered by the fallout. (Maybe there's hope for the aspiring trolls,
but it's hard to say)
Some people could give a flying fig less about anything except their
own need to
lob crap into the NG and raise a middle finger in some sort of sick or
twisted "triumph" when they do.

Nothing stops or prevents a troll from screwing up the group except
conscience (missing in many cases), self control (also in short supply
in some cases), and maybe a little peer pressure. Consider me peer
pressure.

You're hardly my peer, Chuck. If I ever get so tightly wound as you, then
I'm your peer...and then please shoot me.

Damn shame if a guy's life is so narrow that no matter what he has to
say the only place he can find to express himself is in a boating
newsgroup.

Every day I talk about a multitude of subjects with people from all walks of
life. The internet, for me, is merely a test ground. I like to see how
people respond to certain statements or comments. As you stated, it's
personal interaction without consequences. People say things here they may
or may not say in public. But that's what is great about it. People also
respond here in ways they normally wouldn't respond in public...'cause if
they did, they'd get punched in the mouth.

To me, it's a fascinating study in human nature.

That's probably not true in your case, but sometimes I have
my doubts about a few others.........

I think we should stick to boats,

Go right ahead. Nobody is stopping you.

and I will continue offering comments
to those who abuse the NG to get their personal, political rocks off.

But what if they get their rocks off by bantering with netcops?

If you don't like it- great, and if it really "didn't bother you" you
wouldn't get all grammar school silly and insulting in response.

You mean like a 50-something year old man playing hallway monitor on his
computer?

This NG used to be full of liberals and conservatives, and it argued
about politics.

Now it's full of trolls and netcops, and it argues about trolling and
netcopping.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other...

LOL. Truer words were never spoken.

About 6 mpg.

Unfortunately, based upon this weeks flamefests, you might be correct.

Doesn't really matter what the subject is, the old standard still
applies. The first party who reverts to childish personal attack and
insult has clearly failed to carry his primary point. If this is what
you're reduced to, you'd be better to stand down entirely.

Better luck next time, Harry.

I posted a joke about "illegal immigration" into Canada, and you called me a
troll. I guess you failed.

You two netcops should get a room and entertain yourselves with your
silliness.

Been boating yet this year, John?

BTW, what is it about anti-name calling or anti-troll posts that
bothers
you?

I'm consistent, John. I don't like unctuousness, a quality you, Gould,
Smithers, et al, have in abundance. I've posted this before. That's for
starters.

Second, you're a facilitator of bad behavior here. Several have pointed
that out. Your constant response of "Who, me?" is recognized for the
bull**** it is.

Third, you're not clever enough with words to play Zoltan Karpathy,
John,
so your oiling and oozing your way around here only makes you
look...silly.

I score that reply a clear knock out.

It figures that you'd enjoy the insults and name calling.

sigh

You just can't stop it can you?

I thought I would give you a chance but see that all you do is continue to
try to pick fights with me and others here.

Back in the bozo bin you go Kevin.

See ya!
