![]() wrote in message oups.com... When I take the wife to a nice eat place, I usually single out the bus-boy and give him a 5 or ten dollar tip. they look at me in shock. I tell them they have a "thankless" job" and putting myself through college, I've been there. They usually say something like "Wow, nobody havse EVER doen anyting like that before. etc.etc." and in many times they will take up the slack between a waiter/ess being overly busy . Good generosity doesn't usually go overlooked. Nice gesture, for sure, but are you aware that in most decent restaurants it is common practice for the waiters and/or waitresses to contibute a percentage of their tips at the end of the day to a tip fund for the busboy? I know, 'cuz I wuz one. (Les Shaw's in New Haven in the '60s) Eisboch |
