.......party tray for the owners and employees of our marina as a token of
our appreciation for the time they spent making sure our boat, as well as the boats of others, were safe and properly secured during the flooding. It will arrive by 11:30 this morning. ;-) |

Bassy, For what it is worth, if JimH was bipolar you are doing your best to egg him on. Whenever someone encourages inflammatory rants, it is detrimental to rec.boats. bi polar rants or any other rant really just gets old very quickly. Why don't you just pretend JimH does not exist. -- Reggie That's my story and I am sticking to it! |

Cool!,
That little extra appreciation usually goes a long way. I,m sure they will appreciate that. However, It may or may not go to future favors, but at least they sould know that there efforts were recognized. When I take the wife to a nice eat place, I usually single out the bus-boy and give him a 5 or ten dollar tip. they look at me in shock. I tell them they have a "thankless" job" and putting myself through college, I've been there. They usually say something like "Wow, nobody havse EVER doen anyting like that before. etc.etc." and in many times they will take up the slack between a waiter/ess being overly busy . Good generosity doesn't usually go overlooked. They welded a metal support pole with handle where the finger dock meets the seawall at the request of my wife as she is unsteady on her feet due to a debilitating medical condition. The support was being welded in place within hours of her requesting it. I would guess it would have been faster but they had to fabricate it first. ;-) During the flooding docks in some areas were literally being ripped away from the seawall by the combination of high water and current, many times with boats attached to them, with the docks and boats being washed into the Lake and then being beached, including on the rocks. The folks at our marina stayed up all night making rounds and adjusting lines when needed. Here they are attending to our dock as it had overtopped the end support pole and they needed to set it back into place: http://tinyurl.com/qr27j We did not buy the party tray to receive any special favors.............we just wanted to say "thanks" for a job well done. |

Nice gesture, for sure, but are you aware that in most decent restaurants it is common practice for the waiters and/or waitresses to contibute a percentage of their tips at the end of the day to a tip fund for the busboy? I know, 'cuz I wuz one. (Les Shaw's in New Haven in the '60s) Eisboch |

just wanted to say "thanks" for a job well done. Oh, I know..I know. But that "thanks" doesn't go unnoticed, and sounds to me like they want to give the best service they can. Thats still a great jesture of appreciation. I know, 'cuz I wuz one. (Les Shaw's in New Haven in the '60s) Eisboch I'm very well aware of the fund, 'cause I "wuz one" also. But the bus kid is the one who has to clean up the slop, making sure the tables and chair's/booth's/stools are sterile clean, at the same time risking poking his/her hand with a used knife or fork with lord knows what kind of DNA is on it etc..... And yes, the waiter/ess's are supposed to kick in a fund, that's true. And don't get me wrong, I tip the waiter/ess pretty good too. But it's always cool to see the look in the bus-kid's eyes when a patron goes out of the way to give him/her a generous tip . Just something out of the ordinary seems to make the kids day a bit brighter. Here's a site I was combing for rememebring my college days of being a short order cook (Sambo's) in one place, and busser in another (Tresslers)... http://www.bitterwaitress.com/ Here's some thought about tipping the busser... http://www.bitterwaitress.com/war_st...s.html?id=1957 |

That's pretty hard when he's calling you every name in the book, insulting, etc. Calling you every name in the book and insulting you? If calling you by your real name, Kevin Noble, is name calling and insulting then I guess that is true. Otherwise please show me where I have called you names and insulted you. You know, you come in here every morning and start slamming folks. It goes on throughout the day. You do not "contribute" to this group in any other way. I never read any boating related posts from you. What is your real purpose here....to cause trouble and stir the pot? I think so. |
