Made it home fine, although it poured all the way. I wore the yellow rain
gear I had on the boat (trousers with the bib and suspenders and the jacket)
and was perfectly dry. Only problem was slow moving traffic going over the
Sagamore Bridge (Cape Cod Canal). I didn't realize until I got home that
one leg of the rubberized trousers was in contact with one of the exhaust
pipes every time I had to put my foot down. The rest of the ride was 55-60
mph in torrential downpours.

Tomorrow's project is to scrape off all the yellow rubber stuck on the
pipes.

Run the bike to heat up the pipes, and wipe with an old rag. You might

Tried that as soon as I got home and noticed the rubber on the pipe. It
just sizzled the rag.

I think I'll try ice and try to rub it off with a wooden stick If that
fails using some 0000 grade steel wool and rubbing compound might do the
trick.

It's not much that got on the pipe and, in the worst case, it will
eventually burn off itself.

Got any non-purple plumber's pvc primer laying around? Might work. I
guess I did get lucky with the rag. There was still some discoloration,
but it eventually did go away, or at least, I stopped noticing it.

Try some GooGone. Don't take steel wool near the pipes or even near the
bike. If the GooGone doesn't work, I'd scrape most off and then use some

I am more cautious with various chemicals than I am with steel wool which
I've used many times on chrome.
I am not talking about rough stuff. I am talking about 0000 or 00000 grade.
It doesn't scratch chrome and if you rinse the area off well, it leaves no
particles to rust on the surface.

I'm with John on this. Find something that will dissolve your rain suit then
try it on an inconspicuous spot on your chrome.

Never Dull doesn't leave particles. I've *never* been able to get every
particle when using steel wool, and have always found a few rust spots
afterwards. I've given up on it.
