At about $150 per quarter, how long would it take me to break even? -- John H Depends on how deep they have to drill. We put a well in a few years ago because the sprinkler costs were getting ridiculous. (They are installed in both the lawn and horse paddock areas). The well drilling guy told me they try to get a well to produce at least 12 gals/min. They had to go down 512 feet for ours and finally hit paydirt ... or paywater and got over 20 gals/min. He said they hit an aquifer and we now had an artesian well that tests purer than the town supplied water. It paid for itself in about 2-3 years in our case.
