Sorry to hear that Don. We were in a rainy pattern in May but finally got
out of it. We now gone to the other end of the scale, with no rain for the
past 2 weeks.

Your time will come. I am sure you are itching to get out on the boat
though.

Depends on how deep they have to drill. We put a well in a few years ago
because the sprinkler costs were getting ridiculous. (They are installed in
both the lawn and horse paddock areas). The well drilling guy told me they
try to get a well to produce at least 12 gals/min. They had to go down 512
feet for ours and finally hit paydirt ... or paywater and got over 20
gals/min. He said they hit an aquifer and we now had an artesian well that
tests purer than the town supplied water.

It paid for itself in about 2-3 years in our case.

Our water/sewer bill for the year is normally about $350. We have a lawn
sprinkler system that runs 3.5 hours x 6 days (6 zones one day, 6 different
zones the next) throughout the summer and early fall. Add to this the water
demand for a family of 3.25 (our daughter is only with us on an occasional
basis now) and I guess we have a pretty sweet deal.

If I were to ever build new on the (fresh) water, the river or lake would
serve as the water supply for the lawn sprinkler system. ;-)

This month has been unbelievably bad. Probably five days of rain vs 2
days cloudy skies each week. No spring...sure hope summer is better.

I might have to water the lawn two or three times in an average
summer...certainly not in the spring.

At the time we put the well in, our annual water bill had climbed to over
2k, providing the motivation for the well.
