I've got room for my kayak on one side of my roof racks, but not on the other.
There's a rooftop box in-between... The other side needs another 6". The other side would be used on those occasions when I want to take my windsurfer on the existing wide side and the kayak on the other side. I *could* just buy another set of bars that are 6" wider.... but that would have the bars protruding beyond the sides of the vehicle and I'd prefer to avoid that. One alternative to getting wider rack bars would seem to be attaching a set of canted racks. e.g. Yak's "Hull Raiser" at http://tinyurl.com/jf4xo Another might be some sort of collar/slip-on extensions that could be fitted to the existing bars only when I wanted to carry the kayak on that side. Anybody have any feelings about these alternatives? Other solutions? -- PeteCresswell |
