We'd jam that thing full with a Fender Bandmaster amp, a Fender Bassman, Farfisa Compact-Duo, and a Bogen PA amp, two horns (!) and stands- and all of that and 4 guys would fit in there (with one guy sort of curled up with the gear and three across the front bench seat. Was like stuffing circus clowns into a VW bug.. Still took two trips unless the drummer could borrow his parents car. (Real big time we were, yeah right). Made a little (very little) spending money and impressed a few (very easily impressed) girls playing music back then.......sure were good old days. But, since this is a boating NG and not the "neat old cars" discussion forum, how about your first ever boat? Mine was an old lapstrake rowboat on a freshwater lake. My folks had a little cabin there, and I would row around the lake for hours at a time. Sometimes fishing, sometimes just rowing around for the pure joy of being on the water. Then when I was just a bit older my grandfather bought a new fiberglass hull and built his own interior and deck for about a 24' sloop. Some of the best ever times as a kid was sailing with my grandfather. |

1971 Ford Maverick Grabber 302 V-8 4V 5.11 gears C-4 A/T Very Fast!! 14.6
sec. E.T. 98 mph 1/4 mile times. Top Speed was only 116 though. I went through 4 sets of tires in 12,000 miles and Guarantee Auto replaced them for free until the last time when they found great big gobs of rubber in the rear wheelwells from all my burnouts. ( they used to have tread wearout warranties in those days. Traded that in on a Brand New 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass S 455 with W-30 package Midnight Blue With White swivel bucket seats(Remember those?). Man those were the days, 19 years old, new job in a machine shop, just married, and I got credit for a Brand New Car with only 1500 dollars down. Of course the whole car only cost 5154.00 US.
