I have to wonder, Doug, why you didn't ask Harry the same question when he posed his question to Bert. John H Because Bertie asks the question for a different reason than Harry does. Really, why don't you educate all of us and provide the reasons for Harry and I asking the question. If you were capable of being educated, I might try. But, you are a waste of oxygen. |

. .. Why does it matter? New rules? Nobody can talk about this if they haven't served? It has nothing to do with talking, everybody can do that with exception to those that can't physically talk. If somebody asks a medical questions and you respond with an answer. Are they entitled to know if you are medical professional and at what level? Opinions can have weight and that weight is in direct proportion to the the education and experience of the person giving the opinion. Would you let the guy taking his first auto mechanics class rebuild your car's engine? Do you want your doctor's first surgery to be the one he performs on you? As expected, all stupid analogies. This discussion is about the propriety of certain wars. You do not need military service to discuss this issue. Be careful about disagreeing with that statement. It's a trap. |

Is it possible that today, you might know something I don't, and that a year from now, I might also know the same thing? Yes Great! The suits who invented the domino theory knew by the late 1960s that it was nonsense, and that's what the entire war was based on. All presidents are the target of various so-called scholars and shmexperts. Many of us figured out early on that the North Vietnamese were not going to burn their way through the south and invade Australia next. Do you remember this nonsense? You are intellectually dishonest. It appears you ran out of steam without being able to explain that statement. |

I greased and stroked the big artillery guns...I polished my commanders brass buttons so I could stay close to home and out of danger.. Hold on... that was someone else...not me! Just as I thought. You think so little of what others sacrificed so that you can live your easy life. What did you sacrifice for your stateside service, Bertie? Your virginity? Time and money. I had to cart my as 200 miles to my unit and then 200 miles back home one weekend every month for four years at my own cost. Back then us lower ranks didn't get paid much. $30 bucks for gas, $10 bucks for food and $40 swilling beer and chasing skirts Saturday night tends to eat up all of your drill pay quickly. Not too mention that Friday night and Sunday night were useless due to driving. But, I did get to see a lot of cool stuff and do a lot of cool stuff. |

I stand behind my convictions, unlike the empty head in the White House at the moment. Now, what about the question you pretended not to see? In what year did you figure out that the Vietnam war was a sham? No comment. Coward. "It's not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required." Correct. Get over here and scrape the debris out of the rain gutters where my lawn meets the street. If you're willing to get your brains blown out for a political theory you're incapable of understanding, you should be fine with this assignment. Seems the least you can do is scrape the debris out of your own rain gutters. Or do you expect someone else to take care of that chore for you also? RCE |
