Hi,
I have a Gheenoe (similar to a canoe), and I want to get the shallowest draft outboard that I can. I currently have an old 3 hp Evinrude. The distance from the transom mount (where the clamp contacts the transom) to the lowest point on the motor is 24 inches. I checked at the Yamaha dealer, and their short-shaft motors varied in this dimension as follows: 8 hp two stroke - 28 inches 4 hp four stroke - 26 inches 2.5 hp four stroke - 26 inches I'm thinking that I will probably get a 4 hp, but 3 or 5 would be OK. Do any of you have experience with other manufacturers? Do any of them run shallower than the Yamaha? Thanks, Dan |
