Transom heights and shaft lengths are generally measured from the top
of the transom to the bottom of the boat (for the transom) and from
the motor bracket, where it contacts the top of the transom, to the
cavitation plate. Standard lengths are 15", 20" and 25". Practically
everybody offers their smallest motors at 15".
Honda has a nice lookin' 2hp, 4stroke, 15" shaft. But everybody has
their own favorites.
