See what you started Chuck?

So were you just "testing the waters" with this troll? Could it be that
some people actually preferred the old confrontational, political,
rec.boats
with name-calling in the titles of threads and boating topics appearing
rarely in the mix?

Yes, *some* people did. Harry and JimH have been working hard to get us
right back on the old path.

John, folks that wanted to donate have done so. You have collected over
$3,000 in donations. Why not leave it at that and stop pestering folks for
more. ;-)

Why don't you just kill file me. Harry is plenty capable of sending his own
messages. If he tells me he doesn't want to contribute, he'll hear nothing
more from me.

(Personally, I think he's holding out for *quadruple*.)

PS. Besides, last week he was accusing me, et al, of not being
compassionate. On this issue, the compassion has come from both sides of
the aisle.

I honestly think Harry can manage without your (most able) help.

Now, PLEASE, kill file me.

Harry,
JohnH is doing some friendly prodding for you to make a contribution to
Breast Cancer Research.

http://www.active.com/donate/varace4cure/RacingforRenee

The Charity expense ratio is reasonable and is for a cause that impacts
all of us.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

I think I stated some weeks ago that I no longer read that many posts

care to know. But by all means, carry on!

Jim was telling me I shouldn't offer, again, to triple your donation to the
breast cancer foundation. He's afraid, I think, that I'll offend your
sensibilities.

As you were referring to me, et al, as uncompassionate last week, I
respectfully told JimH to go climb a rope and kill file me.

There, now you're up to date.

Naw, I won't killfile you John. I am just offering some friendly advice
that badgering folks for donations is not the way to go. Accept what
donations you received and give it up already.

Grow up, Jim.

Which means nada in regards to this discussion. I needed laborers for a

state, no one shows up. Maybe they claim the money and pay the taxes.
They are independent contractors, no witholding required. Same as hiring
a guy with a truck to haul trash away.

Uh, not the same, and, by the letter of the law, I doubt they would meet
the IRS' definition of "independent contractor". Hiring day laborers is
done under the table all the time, but it isn't strictly legit.

Actually you are right, and I know it. Independent contractor has to be an
arms length relationship. Can not really tell them how to do the job. But
is flaunted all the time. Same as Microsoft and their "Independent
Contractor" software guys who have worked for the company for years. But
when I need workers and the state EED can not supply them, I will find day
workers.
