What's in Europe that his son might learn (seriously, not trying to get between you and Doug)? His son is going to Europe on a school trip. And travel is supposed to broaden your horizons. His mind is made up that the global warming is man caused. Will not consider that the earth is always heating and cooling and it may be mother nature and not just man. Why is Mars also warming at the same time? Mars Rovers? You do realize, don't you, Bill, that the warming is happening at a pace that hasn't happened before? And you also realize, that just because there is a cyclic warming and cooling that is astronomy based, doesn't mean that man hasn't had a profound influence on that warming, don't you? |

These statements of fact are based on theories, most with equally qualified opposite points of view. They are yet to be proven as fact or fiction. That's the problem, drawing conclusions based on so little data. Smoking used to be considered good for you and was recommended to calm the nerves. RCE |

These statements of fact are based on theories, most with equally qualified opposite points of view. They are yet to be proven as fact or fiction. Which statements? Yes, we do, in fact know that there is cyclic warming and cooling. And yes, it doesn't mean that man hasn't (or has for that matter) had a profound influence on that warming. If there are equally qualified opposite statements to the contrary, I'd like to see them! I've not heard of one bit of compelling data that would make one come to the conclusion that CFC's and other chemicals aren't having any influence at all on ozone depletion, and hence global warming. That's the problem, drawing conclusions based on so little data. Smoking used to be considered good for you and was recommended to calm the nerves. I don't get the parallels there....but, when I smoked, it did seem to calm my nerves. So perhaps there is data out there somewhere that shows that!! |

Ice borings. Those ice borings show atmospheric CO2 content. They us NOTHING at all about temperature. Smoking used to be considered good for you and was recommended to calm the nerves. At least one study has shown nicotine to have anti-psycotic effects. It has been observed for a long time that many mentally ill people chain-smoke. This study showed that it is a form of self-medication. However, you won't find this study quoted or touted very much. We aren't supposed to find anything GOOD about tobacco. You will find that most studies of climatology similarly vanish if they do not tow the global warming line. |

How do you know it is happening at a faster or slower pace? The Wooly Mammoths were flash frozen a while back. Had to be a fast change in temperature with high winds associated with the temperature change. |

Actually, I haven't heard many scientists saying that at all. But, that certainly is the kneejerk understanding being promoted by certain parties. |

All the people I've heard saying this are right-wingers who claim it's what the enviro-whackos & "the left" are saying. No scientists, no Greens, no environmentalists, and no Democrats are saying it at all. But that's OK, it makes it easy to tell where people get their info from. DSK |
