Whenever I'm someplace where there are fishing charters available, I try not to get excited about it. Spending several hundred dollars to bring 4 tuna steaks back to a hotel is ridiculous. I suppose there's some value to breathing diesel fumes all day, but not to me. :-) Now, Tom has an interesting guide/charter plan on his web site, but you don't see that kind of thing often. The SD long range fllet, both feeds you very well, and you have to catch the fish. Lately they have been into a lot of 200# plus fish. So you can take home a lot of steaks. Depends on where I am. If I've flown somewhere and the hotel room's got no cooking facilities, I won't even consider a charter. In that situation, there is no "home" to take the steaks, ya know? Not worth hurting a fish. |
