I've posted the first installment of what I hope will be a "happy" tale
on the Pacific NW Boating site. The item does mention two companies
with which I am doing business, and due to that fact it would receive a
mixed reaction here. I have mentioned my boat project in the past, but
here are some additional details for anybody interested:

So, did you consider that trawler berthed at the junkyard by its owner

considering buying her. She certainly was a much better boat than

According to a guy who has never seen my boat, or the other boat he

But then again, knowing the first thing about whatever sewage you are
loading into your poison pen has never been a prerequisite for posting
about sal****er adventures in a little Kansas-based runabout, has it,

Post away. I'll leave it up to you to provide the pictures, as you
claim to be able to do so and I frankly have no idea about what boat
you might be referring to as "parked in a junk yard".

I'm sure that the opinions from people who are prepared to judge a boat
based on nothing more than a photo will be interesting indeed. But at
least you will be discussing boats for a change- even if it's your
intention to do so in a disparaging fashion.

Faulty memory again, eh? So you had a lot of single engined trawlers
built by retired Alaska fishermen berthed at Adventure that were later
taken to the owners junk yard while still listed? Hard to keep track of
all those I'd bet. Do you remember telling the owner that he'd have a

Why do two of your neighbors say you still have that clapped-out
Bayliner around?

Wonder if anyone else here lives within a reasonable driving distance of
Skipper. We could chip in on the gas if they'd go inspect his property
and report back. I'm curious if he still does have an old Bayliner
squatting forlornly in his driveway.

I remember that one. Activision had some cool games for the Atari. My
favorite was "KA-BOOM".
It had the guy in a black mask dropping round, black bombs with fuses. Each
level got faster and faster. I mastered each level, but eventually wore out
the potentiometers on the controller. Had to buy the kids a new Atari.

You have to remember that your visit up here was one of the highlights
of your life, not mine. Yes, I do remember a boat that left the
brokerage dock to go down to a commercial dock in Tacoma. The owner of
the boat ran a huge scrap metal business, (not a "junkyard") and the
boat was moored at his own private commercial dock, not "parked in a
junkyard". And yeah, it is certainly a lot tougher to sell a yacht in
an "industrial" environment. After all these years, however, I'm not
sure I clearly remember the details of the boat. Where are the pics you
promised? Down thread maybe? I'll keep looking.

Have patience, Jim!

I can't answer why Chuck put 3 barrier coats on his boat,
but I can tell you about putting 4 barrier coats on ours.

The recommendation was to put on a coat of straight WEST
epoxy resin, which is kind of a PITA but it sticks to
anything & is highly waterproof itself, then roll on 2 coats
of the barrier coat itself (Interlux's product) which is
also a 2-part mixture. We mixed a can and rolled on 4/5 of a
coat, mixed the next can and finished that plus 2/3 of the
next one... so we mixed a third can and finished the
recommended second coat plus used up what we had... which
oddly enough, was *exactly* the right amount to finish a 3rd
coat.

I figure that we don't have to worry about water penetration
into the laminate of our hull. Unless the guys who wrote
labels for the cans lied, we should be all but bulletproof
below the waterline. I mean, we got titanium & boron!

Any *player* worth his salt carries a good cue. Even shortstops and
railbirds carry good cues today. I have many good cues, Palmer, Black,
Peterson & Martin. Here's one you can verify, Richard Black Buska dated
April 15, 2005. He keeps records of all his cues.

In short.... reality vs. dream sequence.

In fact, I taught my 21 year old son to play 9-ball.... I'll put him

belittled by a kid that understands substance over form....

I don't mind. I've lost games to Mosconi, Caras, Peterson, Ronnie Allen,
Richie Florence, and a whole host of others. But your son should know
I've played the best at national tournaments and won a couple state
tournaments. Perhaps your son would like a one pocket lesson also.

.... then, if that isn't enough, I'll kick your 9-ball butt....

Have at it. Gabe Owen's dad has a room in Wichita called Tight Pockets.
We can play there with plenty of witnesses when I return from cruising.

only caveat is that you'll have to come clean about your boat and your
boating experiences..... again, form will be chosen over substance
because you don't have anything to offer, right?

What kind of stakes do you have in mind for our little game? Something
of substance I would assume.

You're probably right. The reality, of course, is that any average

Just in case you don't know who Gabe is:

Hey, according to my site manager's info sheet, there are now a total

Another 35 or so and I'll probably eclipse rec boats. :-)

There's no question that you are da man on Pacific-NW-Boating.

Interestingly enough, Google Groups reports 479 "subscribers" to
rec.boats. Lots of lurkers I guess.

If it takes 479 subscribers to get the couple of dozen frequent
participants we see here, you are right- lot's of lurkers.

Well, I guess you could call me a lurker--I did, in the past, post some.
However, unlike
some of the current regular "participants", such as those who can survey
boats by
looking at a picture, and the prolific "OT" posters, I didn't really have
any new information
to add so kept my mouth shut. Looking at it that way, we would all be
better off
with a few more of the regular posters reverting to lurking.

By lurking occasionally I can keep up on some of the interesting posts, such
as the one starting this thread, "Extreme Makeover".

Real boat owner.

432 of those are Smithers.

And 17 are you.

He has clearly shown he knows a lot about boats/boating. It the stuff
that cant be faked, unlike you.

You have been proven a plagiarizer, and a liar...*YOU* give it up.

I have a production Parker. It is highly unmodified. I've added
electronics, but everything else is factory stock, and it seems
perfectly suitable for fishing or day cruising. Even has a refrigerator,

Fantasy mode off;

Skipper is a fraud who appeals only to the other frauds here, like Karen
Smith and that USO gofer, Greenhalgh, who, by the way, I outed a bit
earlier today.

ROTFLMAO! First off, you "outed" no one you moron. Everybody here
knows my name, and where I work...that is all public information.
Don't try to pat yourself on the back, just because you can click a
mouse.

And for you to call anybody a fraud, is the most utterly ridiculous
thing ever to come out of that bird-brained controlled pie hole of
yours!

....sorry...I cant finish...I'm still in a uncontrolled belly laugh...

Why do you think it is that Krause attempts to belittle those he knows
truly walk the talk?
