The item does mention two companies with which I am doing business, and due to that fact it would receive a mixed reaction here. I have mentioned my boat project in the past, but here are some additional details for anybody interested: http://groups.google.com/group/Pacif...5b9c4c3b4d2245 Very nice Chuck. Best of luck with the restoration and upgrades. Question.....why 3 coats of epoxy barrier coat? Ignored and abused................ :-( I will give it another go.................why 3 coats of epoxy barrier coat Chuck? |

JimH wrote: Ignored and abused................ :-( I will give it another go.................why 3 coats of epoxy barrier coat Chuck? Have patience, Jim! I can't answer why Chuck put 3 barrier coats on his boat, but I can tell you about putting 4 barrier coats on ours. The recommendation was to put on a coat of straight WEST epoxy resin, which is kind of a PITA but it sticks to anything & is highly waterproof itself, then roll on 2 coats of the barrier coat itself (Interlux's product) which is also a 2-part mixture. We mixed a can and rolled on 4/5 of a coat, mixed the next can and finished that plus 2/3 of the next one... so we mixed a third can and finished the recommended second coat plus used up what we had... which oddly enough, was *exactly* the right amount to finish a 3rd coat. I figure that we don't have to worry about water penetration into the laminate of our hull. Unless the guys who wrote labels for the cans lied, we should be all but bulletproof below the waterline. I mean, we got titanium & boron! Fair Skies- Doug King |

Just a cue isn't good enough... now we gotta talk highly modified sissy cues that look good above the mantel, but no real pool player would be caught dead with..... but that is the difference between form and substance. Any *player* worth his salt carries a good cue. Even shortstops and railbirds carry good cues today. I have many good cues, Palmer, Black, Peterson & Martin. Here's one you can verify, Richard Black Buska dated April 15, 2005. He keeps records of all his cues. In short.... reality vs. dream sequence. In fact, I taught my 21 year old son to play 9-ball.... I'll put him up against YOU any day..... Skipper... if you don't mind being belittled by a kid that understands substance over form.... I don't mind. I've lost games to Mosconi, Caras, Peterson, Ronnie Allen, Richie Florence, and a whole host of others. But your son should know I've played the best at national tournaments and won a couple state tournaments. Perhaps your son would like a one pocket lesson also. .... then, if that isn't enough, I'll kick your 9-ball butt.... Have at it. Gabe Owen's dad has a room in Wichita called Tight Pockets. We can play there with plenty of witnesses when I return from cruising. only caveat is that you'll have to come clean about your boat and your boating experiences..... again, form will be chosen over substance because you don't have anything to offer, right? What kind of stakes do you have in mind for our little game? Something of substance I would assume. -- Skipper |

Lots of lurkers I guess. If it takes 479 subscribers to get the couple of dozen frequent participants we see here, you are right- lot's of lurkers. Well, I guess you could call me a lurker--I did, in the past, post some. However, unlike some of the current regular "participants", such as those who can survey boats by looking at a picture, and the prolific "OT" posters, I didn't really have any new information to add so kept my mouth shut. Looking at it that way, we would all be better off with a few more of the regular posters reverting to lurking. By lurking occasionally I can keep up on some of the interesting posts, such as the one starting this thread, "Extreme Makeover". Dan Real boat owner. |
