Jim, do you have Comcast High Speed Internet? If so, I'd like your
thoughts. I've heard tales from two people. I'm not completely ignorant about networks, having expanded, installed in offices a couple of times, do my own IT work, etc. Well, I've been told that it's difficult to connect a wireless router to Comcast. Another told me he connected a wireless router, and it worked without changing any tcp/ip settings. Comcast, of course, wants to install there own home network, at a cost. I don't want them screwing with anything after their modem. I want to do it, then I can maintain it. Anyway, if you, or any others here read this, and have connected a wireless, or wired router to comcast modem, tell me your experiences. Comcast will give you no advice, seeing how it isn't their network. |

We do indeed have Comcast high speed but everything is hard wired to 5 rooms (2 separate connections in my office) through a 10 port router. I ran the cat cable myself (a real PITA) and own the router. We have never had a problem and get consistent DL speeds of 3,500 kbs and UL speeds of 380 kbs. |

I really have no desire to have comcast own anything past the modem. |
