Way to much......mine cost $210.00 28' plus swim platform (10 ft beam) DIY will be less than $100 ok, ill bite - where? the cheapest i can get the contender done for is at least $400. North of Detroit. It was an independant business not tied to the marina. They sell the kits at West Marine, etc. for a little over $100. I helped a couple of friends do their boats last fall, so I will probably do mine this coming winter......it isn't that hard......as long as it is not windy and you have 3 people. thats just the shrink wrap. the gun is around $400 and thats just the cheapo propane bloe torch. the cheapest pack of shrink wrap for a 30' boat was almost $200. Well, there is a lot of packaging type business in the area because of the auto plants. The gun........well I have to fess up....one of the guys on the dock was a engineer in packaging, and when he retired they gave him an old one.....that would cost about $1200 to buy new. :-) It did make life easier. you guys must have a good source of wrap plastic. |
