Wishing you peace and fellowship on the Christmas Holy Day as we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

You mean, the alleged birthday of *your* lord, fella. "Our" lord implies
a universality that non-Christians would find offensive. I'm sure you
don't want to offend billions of people, eh?

Oh, and his name wasn't Jesus Christ. That isn't even close.

When I use the word "our", I'm referring to you and me, Harry.

Should I change it to say, "...the birth of *your* Lord, Jesus

"Narcissists are totally and inflexibly authoritarian. In other words,
they are suck-ups. They want to be authority figures and, short of that,
they want to be associated with authority figures. In their hearts, they
know they can't think well, have no judgment about what matters, are not
connected with the world they inhabit, so they cling fanatically to the
opinions of people they regard as authority figures -- such as their
parents, teachers, doctors, ministers. Where relevant, this may include
scientists or professors or artists, but narcissists stick to people they
know personally, since they aren't engaged enough with the world to get
their authoritative opinions from TV, movies, books or dead
geniuses/saints/heroes. If they get in trouble over some or another
opinion
they've put forth, they'll blame the source -- "It was okay with Dr.
Somebody," "My father taught me that," etc."

I haven't been to the site in a while. I live aboard and especially this time of year when all the seasonal boaters have gone for the season I love to post in the boating forums. I wasn't sure in anyone was even interested in boating in this forum anymore.

I looked through 50 posts here. I skipped over the lawnmower outboard
discussion since I've seen it and contributed to it in previous
discussions, I'm not interested in old sails, and I know enough about
internet security already for my purposes. Oh... I guessed the "dog"
discussion was not about boats, so I skipped that one, too.

No offense, but if you want a "boating discussion group," it would help to
have some interesting boating related posts, eh?

Harry,

Are you lobbying for OT posts?

Who wouldn't expect the traffic here to slow down if/when OT posts are
eliminated? For those of us who tune in to read boating posts, there is
no disappointment when the crap is gone. It actually saves a lot of
time wading through the BS that should be here.

Some of the best groups I read are small and on-topic. If you post a
question you don't have to sort through 100+ OT posts to get your answer.

Is your last comment some sort of way to condone the inclusion of
political and other OT posts just for the sake of adding something to
read? There are many other groups for many other topics.

Off topic posts bother me not at all. I can read them or not, and usually
can decide that based on the headers or the responders.

I'm looking forward to the next discussions here of boat names, Bayliners,
and expertise dispensed by non-boaters.

Harry, it is Christmas Day. Chill and enjoy the day with your guests and

The forum is now a pleasant place to come. We don't need bayliner bashing,
politics, name calling or cussing. Things are running just fine now. Enjoy
it.

Merry Christmas.

JimH,

A good fisherman will change his lures when the one he is using does not
work.

We have to be careful when a new lure is dangled our way.

I have nibble at a few new ones being cast about, but normally I have
realized my mistake as soon as I hit send.

Those who prefer "lively" OT threads are really are not interested in having
a NG conducive to boating discussion, discussing boats or encouraging new
boaters to join the NG will probably change their tactics many times. After
all we do have some great fisherman in the NG.

I'm perfectly chilled, Jim. I simply find it hypocritical that those who
complain about OT posts have no qualms about posting OT posts on topics
that suit them.

Hey, there's always hope we'll be visited in 2006 by another crossdressing
hair dresser whose wife used to be a cop and who now needs a flashy name
for that 1971 bowrider with the 1958 Scott-A****er he/she/it picked up on
eBay for only $5000.

How'd you do for Xmas? I made out like a bandit.

A couple shirts, some tools and a new tool box for the boat. When we sold
our 32 footer I gave my son all the tools and tool box I carried on it. I
now have to restock the new tool box with some basic necessities. I already
have a pretty good collection of stainless steel hardware that will also now
stay on the boat.

I really don't ask for much on Christmas I am at the point of my life where
generally if I need or want something I buy it. The joy I get on Christmas
morning is mainly from watching the kids and my wife open their gifts.

We were all pretty tired this morning after a full day of family at the
house. We did not get to bed till after 1 a.m. and had to get up for 8 a.m.
mass.

Today we are just chilling.

What sort of stuff did you get Harry?

Good luck with that. :-)

One whole big chunk of the frequent posters here post almost
exclusively about politics.
A few will mention something about a boat, rarely, but quite a few in
"the heart of the lineup" don't even make a pretense about an interest
in boats or boating.

And until recently you fit into that group. ;-)

If you are changing your habits, good for you. In fact your review of
Crownline boats was quite good.

I know I am living in a glass house. But I also did not claim to live in a
brick house. ;-)

G'morning, Mr. Hertvik. The portion of my remarks that you snipped
included a statement that most of us have engaged in OT posting and a
statement "Certainly I have done so."
With that portion of the post removed, your comments are appropriate.
With the original post considered in its entirety, your observations
are superflous. Have a pleasant day.

True, but why bash someone for owning one? Bayliner makes a decent quality
boat for lake and near shore ocean boating.

Not everyone can afford a Tiara.
