A friend works for a maker of CDC machining equipment. He and his team are responsible for programming the things after they're delivered and installed. He tells me that Toyota and the American makers use many of the same machines, but the Americans request looser tolerances, particularly for engine blocks. Harry doesn't realize that someone has to pay for the healthcare coverage.
The cost of healthcare for auto makers will be no less under their current plan, than a national healthcare plan. It probably would be more under a national healthcare plan.
