Typical, Christian zealots need to rule by fear, because there are no
facts!

Pat Robertson warns Pa. town of disaster

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned
residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may
strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting
school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.

Robertson takes the term "loose cannon" to totally new levels. :-)

But, Robertson is right the issue. Either you acknowlege God or you
don't.
If you don't acknowledge God then why are you asking Him for things?

It is pretty funny to see the claim about ruling by fear.........that is
straight out of the liebral playbook.

Christianity and Judaism *both* include a good helping of fear to keep the
flock in line. You know that. You don't acknowledge it here because it would
interfere with your need to post something - anything, every day, no matter
how goofy it is.

Illogical and too simple. If god's as perfect as his followers make him out
to be, simplicity cannot be the answer.

1) There are scientists who believe in god, but believe he set all this in
motion and then wiped his hands and said "now it runs itself". This is as
valid as any other view.

2) If you truly believe that a deity runs everything, you MUST question why
he allows such things as drug resistant germs, which are pure evil. If
you're as immature as a toddler, you can say Satan's responsible for the bad
things, just as a child might blame an imaginary friend for spilling juice
on the sofa.

3) It appears the Northern pike hasn't changed in millions of years, while
other fish have. Is a deity fiddling with some fish but not others? Why? Or,
is the pike proof that when an organism functions with beautiful efficiency,
it doesn't need to change much, if at all? If the deity is as perfect as his
followers make him out to be, why weren't all organisms perfectly designed
to begin with? Why do they evolve?

4) Why do bad things happen to good people? (There's a book about that).

These questions have kept humanity busy forever. But, they must be hidden
much of the time or there would never be new recruits. If you don't get a
kid into religion by a certain age, she's (thankfully) saved from it all,
unless she arrives at it herself later in life. To get her into religion,
you have to keep it simple: There's a god. You have to be exquisitely lazy
or very stupid to leave it at that.

Pardon me Snippy, but I don't recall Howard Dean using God as a hammer.

Could you please cite an example or, as you are able, cut and paste
something together that supports your vapid theory.

Hmm, that's odd, I listened to the whole thing twice, Skippy, and Dean
never, ever mentioned God. That wasn't even a decent TRY, Skippy.

Pat Robertson warns Pa. town of disaster

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned
residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may
strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting
school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.

All eight Dover, Pa., school board members up for re-election were
defeated Tuesday after trying to introduce "intelligent design" - the
belief that the universe is so complex that it must have been created
by a higher power - as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster
in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city,"
Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club."

Eight families had sued the district, claiming the policy violates the
constitutional separation of church and state. The federal trial
concluded days before Tuesday's election, but no ruling has been
issued.

Later Thursday, Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply
trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences."

"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in
his eye forever," Robertson said. "If they have future problems in
Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help
them."

Robertson made headlines this summer when he called on his daily show
for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

In October 2003, he suggested that the State Department be blown up
with a nuclear device. He has also said that feminism encourages women
to "kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and
become lesbians."

That has to be a real embarrassment to the people who are touting
"intelligent design" studies. They are all running around the country
proclaiming, "It's science, not religion! it isn't based on scripture!
No problem with the first amendment!".......and here comes Pat
Robertson putting the lie to the whole schpiel with "a vote against
intelligent design is a vote against God!"

Somebody ought to trot the old guy off to a retirement home. Every time
he opens his mouth lately he gets loonier and loonier. It's scary to
think how many people take him seriously.

Amen brother, I say amen to that.

What's really peculiar is that the God of Pat Robertson is the same God of
the Jews and of the Moslems. They just have different prophets.
