How low will the liebrals go?
Chuck,
That is excellent literary skills, but then again, I have always thought your literary skills are head and shoulders over most. Advertisers often use a method of advertising where they leave off common expression or phrase and allow the person reading or listening to the ad to fill in expression or phrase. Coke used to do this in many of their ads, the ad guys call this "closure". You were very effective in using "closure" in your posts, keep up the good work. wrote in message oups.com... Dr. Dr. Smithers wrote: Chuck, Why do most of the liberals or progressive in rec.boats use the expression "goose step" when discussing conservatives or Republicans? I know most conservatives and Republicans disagree on many issues, and openly debate those issues. It sounds like you have gone the way of Kevin and Harry in trying to demonize your opponents, by inferring that they are nothing more than Nazi's. The goose step is a extremely disciplined, highly regulated, ostentatious way to march. There is no room for self expression, and any one non-conformist goose-stepper doing a poor job spoils the entire effect. It's a march style employed by groups more concerned with how much noise they make and how impressive they look than with making some actual progress. It's the type of activity that wouldn't appeal to most liberals. Now, here's the *extremely funny part*! (pay attention, please).......... Reread my comments. I never said that conservatives or Republicans "goose step", I only said that liberals generally *do not*. In the mind of some, apparently, there was a natural correlation between "goose stepping" and the right wing. Sorry about that, but it isn't my fault. I merely said that liberals do not goose step- and any further conclusions were made by others. :-) |

The fantasy *stories* you write leave yourself an escape route. The "who me?" card is often played, such as in this case. Say what you mean if you truly believe it Chuck. I did! I truly meant to say that liberals don't goose step. Until goaded, I didn't even mention conservatives at all. However, some of my esteemed fellows on the opposite side of the fence can't imagine any statement ever being made that doesn't format as "us against them", so they simply assumed I was stating that conservatives are goose steppers. If I say, "my car is really fast," that's no implication that yours is slow. If I say, "my wife is extremely good looking," that's no implication that yours is not. (However, folks who secretly feel that their car is pretty slow and the dear wife is not exactly a supermodel might get a bit defensive. Sorry, can't help that.) When I say "liberals don't goose step", that doesn't mean that conservatives do. (However, folks who secretly feel conservatives probably do goose step might get a bit defensive. Sorry, can't help that.) The trouble here is not what I said, but what some assumed I meant. Little disco music, maestro, if you please.... Tappity, tappity, tappity, tappity, rappity, rappity, tappity, tap. :-) |
