I plan to replace the carpeting (now red..........yuk) throughout the
cockpit. I will be removing the existing carpeting come Spring (it looks like it is glued down) and replacing it with a neutral color moderate~high grade marine carpeting. Questions: 1. How difficult is it to install the carpeting in the cockpit? I will have to work around some fixed seating. 2. Can you recommend any particular manufacturer or supplier on the net for the carpeting? More specifically, can you recommend any make from the manufacturer that will meet my needs?) Thanks. |

If there are plywood floorboards you ought to consider going with a non-skid instead. If there is non-skid FRP, why cover it up with carpet? 60's retro seems to be the rage right now, so 70's retro can't be far behind. If you do recarpet, why not be ahead of the curve and go with a nice orange and green shag? |

I will not know for sure till Spring when I pull up the carpeting. If the glue did not discolor or disfigure the non skid I might just keep it that way. Otherwise carpeting goes back down. I would guess (again assuming the deck is non skid) that all I would have to worry about is sealing the screw holes from the seat/ice box I took out. Black carpeting? No way. Orange shag.....yeah baby! |
