Appreciate all of the input, I'll definitely look into the places
mentioned. I actually live on the upper east side of Manhattan and had the chance to get out to City Island earlier this year. I spent a day walking around the island trying to get a feel for it, didn't seem like a bad place. I noticed that Minneford Marina had outdoor racks for boats but I'm not sure what sizes they can handle. However, it did seem like the marina had lots of boater activity and decent security. I didn't see any other racks on City Island. I'm open to both indoor and outdoor rack storage so if anyone thinks of anywhere else, please let me know. |

Even with the best security, I'd still remove electronics mounted on brackets and stash it somewhere. Thieves manage to get around the most well designed car alarms, so a boat is easy pickins. |

Since you're on the upper east side, check out the World's Fair Marina.
I'm not sure if it's still called that. It's the marina on the Grand Central Parkway, just east of LaGuardia Airport. It's 5 minutes past the Triboro Bridge. If you choose City Island in the Bronx, you can head uptown and cross one of the free bridges (3rd Avenue, Willis Avenue). You could always stay in Manhattan. The 79th Street Pier charges about $95 per foot for year round storage. There are also marinas in Jersey (Hoboken and Jersey City) and in Westchester (New Rochelle). I don't know which of these may have rack storage. |
