Default Private boat show

Getting a few transients staying here for the night as they make their way
south. A guy just pulled into the slip beside me in a brandy-new Hinckley
Picnic Boat. The proud owner took delivery of it today in Boston and is on
his way to Florida. As he backed in I was on the finger pier to take a
line, but it soon became obvious he had it well under control. The vectored
thrust from the jet drive is really cool.

What a beautifully finished boat.

Then, three boats down from me sits a Dettling 51. Another absolutely
beautifully finished boat. If I ever got the itch to upgrade .......

I went out for a day cruise a few years ago, on Lake Cumberland (KY) in a
Hinckley...must have been about a 35 footer.

What a VERY NICE boat. The cabin was light, airy, and very roomy. Just the
opposite of most cabins of that sized boats.

Workmanship and finish were top-notch, and the boat was a joy to pilot.

If I'm ever in the market for a day-cruiser or picnic boat, you can bet a
Hinckley will be on the sort list.

The 35' is the picnic boat. Not too many boats that big with a diesel
that can draft only 18".
Their interior woodwork finish work is awesome.

He's a brave guy to be making that trip during the tail end of
hurricane season.

Actually, many people take their time until November 1st due to insurance
reasons. My policy covers the boat in waters south of New Jersey only after
November 1.
