The mechanics in town are booked for two weeks. I'm trying to remove a prop
from my volvo 280 drive. Had it off last year and every year without a problem. I've soaked it in a penetrating lube but still no movement. Short of buying a prop puller or putting the heat to it is there anything else I can try? Thanks. linus |

Thanks. linus Remove the nut, place boat in water, apply full reverse and hey presto, wife retrieves prop from bottom of the marina ..... JUST KIDDING!!! Just exercise patience and care. Gentle heat, say from a heat gun, followed by a soaking of cold water, repeat cycle over and over again, all the while tapping with wood drifts has worked for me in similar applications. It will eventually come off, remember to keep rotating the prop. There must be a mechanic somewhere that's prepared to swing by after work with a puller, and collect a case of beer for 5 minutes work? Good Luck. |

advice on removing frozen prop
After it melts, it will just go away. Just throw away the plastic then. ![]() Doug |
