Hi,
Just bought a brand-new Merc 9.9 4-stroke. When cold, it won't start at idle: I have to push the "high idle" button and give it some throttle. Is this normal, or should a brand-new engine start at idle, even when cold? Lloyd Sumpter "Skeeder" Mirrocraft 12 |

That is normal. Only EFI engines will not require added throttle when cold

My new diesel in Far Cove does, a new car does, even my motorbike does. Why shouldn't an outboard? Lloyd Because you didn't buy the optional, $1000 easy start kit. |

I think the High idle is also the choke on a Merc. My 4 stroke T-8 Yamaha
requires I pull the choke lever and give it a little throttle. My cars and diesel truck are all FI and computerized, so just turn the key. Bill "Lloyd Sumpter" wrote in message ...
