Looks like rust to me. Have you been getting gas from this location before.
That or they were low and you picked up old gas in the bottom of the tank. Bottom line - I would get rid of this gas and fuel up somewhere else. You don't say what kind of boat you have but I assume you don't have a steel tank that is rusted. -- Tony my boats at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com "Wayne.B" wrote in message ... only reason i ask is because i am having problem with the boat, filled up at
the gas station on the water saturday night, went out friday and on the way back lost power, would not get above 3200 RPMS and also had a clicking/clapping sound coming from the carb, so it sounded like. i figured water in the fuel but when i emptied the filter nothing separated, just turned foggy like that after 10 min....what do you think? |

How old is it?
Does it have that potent "gas" smell? db "OSU" wrote in message ... the came out of my fuel filter, when I poured it in it was clear, 10 minutes later it looked like this http://www.xperttechsolutions.com/boatered/gas1.jpg |

I just pumped that from the station the other day, 45 gallons of it, why
would it come out clear/clean looking then turn foggy 10 min later? bad gas? water in it?? The smell is from what I can tell, smells like gas |

Maybe try collecting a sample in a closed container and see if it still goes cloudy. Ask the cat you bought it from if anybody else has complained or try some of the suspected bad gas in your lawn mower or something. Diesel fuel has a pretty distinctive smell and would probably have a more profound effect on your engine than you described. |

Not that I'm going to know what it is, but I'm a bit
confused at your "timeline" of events here. Is this about right? You pumped 45 gallons of gas into your boat tank on Saturday. On the way home you had problems where you could not go above 3200 RPM without loosing power. Now you got this gas sample from your tank at a point that is AFTER it goes through your fuel filter. The gas as it comes out of your boat's system / fuel filter looks about normal and "clear" but when it sets for 10 minutes or so it gets cloudly like this. ?? |
