Well, we might not agree on most political issues, but I have the

Wally, what makes you think he's any different? Having met him, I see no reason
for you to think that way.

I can see you have never had this happen to you.

I was at a chrysler dealership years ago where the Sales Manager kept my
keys (which i dumbly gave up for the old "let us drive test your potential
tradein to determine its value") on his credenza behind his desk.

When the Sales Associate couldn't produce the keys when I told him I wasn't
purchasing any car from them, I demanded to know where the keys were.
Eventually he told me the Sales Manager had them.

I immediately went to the Sales Managers office to get my keys when he
expressed "tell us what it will take to get you to drive out of here tonight
with a new car". I told him "give my my keys now or I am coming over your
desk". He replied with "sir, I can see you are not serious about purchasing
a new car tonight, what can we do to change your mind". I made a move
towards his desk, and he immediately turned around and gave me my keys back.

BELIEVE ME.....THIS CAN REALLY HAPPEN. In the mean time, they had some
poor woman in the next office in tears using the same tactic. Sad...really
sad.

Being childish has nothing to do with these sales a**holes. They only
understand aggression. If you are passive, they will eat you alive.

You and the guy who turned the table over (if he really did) act like
out of control monkeys.

Well Wally, bast on your VAST business experience, what do
you suggest. I see the following options

1) buy the car as the salesman demands

2) call the cops, and wait 3-4 hours until they get around
to showing, at which point the salesman will explain that it
was all a misunderstanding, and YOU were mistaken in
bothering the cops.

3) take a cab home and forfeit your car to storage fees

4) drive their demo home and get arrested for theft.

What is your suggestion given the situation as described --
where a "salesman, sales manager" refuses to return the keys
to your car? You know the "professional approach" Remember
that you're dealing with scum who are out to take your money
and have already demonstrated their (lack of) class.

Was that the conclusion you reached after I invited you and your wife
aboard my boat for a look-see, or invited you out fishing a couple of
times while your boat was in the shop?

You really are an ungracious snot, Herring.

Quite...anytime you are in the area, let me know and if its "in season,"
I'll be glad to take you and your wife or SO out for a cruise on The Bay.

Today was beautiful on the water, though it was very choppy for most of
the morning. In fact, a lot of guys were headed in at 9:30 when we
headed out. But it flattened out some right after noon. North winds.

What? I implied you were no different in person than you were here. What the
hell is wrong with that? *Are* you different in person? Are you 'better' or
'worse'?

If we aren't seeing the real Harry here, what are we seeing? Is everything you
say here a myth? What *do* you believe?

Why would someone get ****ed when reading that they are like who they are like?

My wife doesn't fish. I've never needed a look-see of a Parker, I've seen plenty
at Tri-State. And, as I've said before, I don't think I could spend a whole day
confined to a boat with someone who thinks and acts the way you do.

Now, be a good boy and tell me what upset you.

Ya know this (or a minor variation) works. Several years
ago I was in a local car dealer (Patrick) haggling over a
car. It became obvious that we were not about to come to
agreement, so I politely told the salesman such, and asked
for my car keys back (the trade in evaluation), He changed
the subject, and we went back and forth for a minute or 2.
I became insistent, finally asking if he wanted a scene, and
yet again he avoided my question. I jumped up, overturned
the table, and shouted at the top of my voice that he ahd
the dealer were G.D. Thieves and that unless I had my keys
in 10 seconds, I was calling the police and reporting it
stolen/ I followed the salesman to the managers office
swearing all the way, and got my keys without incident.
This was also on a Saturday with a full showroom.

Sometimes it helps to make a little noise.

or act like an immature idiot.

The OP is out thousands of dollars while the dealer tries to fix his

broken
credit with the engine supplier. What would YOU do in the customer's
situation, you putz?

What would a putz do?

Well, he would overturn a table in a car dealership because he

couldn't
control his childish emotions.

People never cease to cause me to shake my head.

Shake your head all you want -- but I got my keys back
within the 10 seconds I demanded. I hope I squelched a
couple of sales from those watching. I was in control at
all times, and in fact warned the salesman that I was about
to make a scene. What happened was his choice. Had he
accepted that we were not about to come to terms and
returned the keys like a gentleman, I would have thanked him
and walked away quietly.

I suppose you would have sat there and cried or something?

You have no concept of how to act in a business situation.

Apparently, neither do the boat and car salesmen described in this
discussion. What would YOU do if you were in the same predicament as the guy
who started this thread?
