The latching mechanism, present on the outboard, is disabled when the power trim & tilt unit is installed - all the parts are there and intact, it is just blocked from being used, into the "Release" position, with the trim brackets installed. I agree. I have a '79 Johnson 115. There is a soleniod valve in the hydraulics that closes only in reverse if my memory serves. I do know for sure on my '79 it is in the hyrdraulics. Now if I could find my repair manual..... Greg |
