Just a open-end wrench (1/2 inch I believe) But there is a history that
goes back to about 1970 that include many items. :-)

The wife almost lost the cell phone, but it stopped at the edge of the dock.

I dropped a pack of plastic quicklock zip ties, (while using the zip ties on
the anchor) but they floated, so I can say I didn't lose anything.

What in the world do you do with zip ties on an anchor?

I use them to stop the screw pin from unscrewing from the shackle. I put
the zip tie into the hole in the screw pin and the link of the chain. It
stops the screw pin from being able to turn.

I probably still have a small roll of galvanized wire kicking around for
that purpose.

Nothing this year, but I once had a funny/stupid/embarrassing thing
happen.
I was out taking notes aboard a new boat for one of the magazine's Sea
Trial articles. I never write anything down, nobody can read my
handwriting-self included. I just dictate into a little "microcassette"
recorder. I made a lot of notes and observation about GPS readings and
Flo-Scan readings at various RPM's, etc. I had one side of the tape
jammed full of facts and figures.

We were returning to the dock, and I thought I would help with the
lines.
Put the little tape recorder in my shirt pocket, bent down to gather a
stern line, and "splash!"........there went the notes. Sometimes the
finished article will have a greater or lesser amount of technical
detail included. That particular month was one with "lesser". :-)

Lost the contents of my wallet on the dock....not the wallet just the
contents. The license and business cards float....AMEX and debit cards
DO NOT...even went swimming to find it with no avail..

Jones had claimed it (denim sinks fast). So I smartened up, and made a

Temporarily lost a pair of cheap sunglasses in shallow water, right in front
of our place. The next morning, at low tide, there was a large, mature
oyster standing there, wearing my glasses. All that was missing was the
smoke hanging out of the corner of his mouth. Thinking fast, I tip-toed up
behind him and snatched 'em back. Of course, he was speechless.

Nothing this season, bit, a few years back, my good wife dropped her diamond
tennis bracelet off the bow of the boat as she was untying the bow lines.
The bracelet got caught on the bow cleat and got ripped off of her wrist.
It slid off the bow and into the water. I watched it as it went down 12
feet to the bottom. Lucky for me the water is crystal clear and I just
went in for a swim and retrieved it for her. Had this happened in my home
port of Bayfield, it would have most likely been lost into the mud of the
harbor. In the port of Tobermory, the water is very clear.

Jim
