I'm thinking about getting a small trolling motor for a Crestliner
1850 sportfish. The boat is about 18 feet and 1500 lbs +motor+cargo. It is wired for a bow mounting motor so thought that would be the logical choice. I expect the trolling motor will be used more for maintaining position in light wind or moving about in local area. I'm looking for recommendations on: thrust, length and anything else to watch out for (mount type, control...) |

Hi NS,
We use the Minn Kota Autopilot in 12 volt and 55# thrust on 14' to 17' boats that have hulls weight of well under 1000#. I think you will need a larger 24 volt with 64 pounds of thrust. You will need to take it to a good boat shop/dealer to have it installed right. Some times there are marine electronic shops that do this. -- Bill Kiene Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA, USA Web site: www.kiene.com "nospam" wrote in message ...
