Just back from SoCal and boating.
 

Went to San Diego for a week with stops at the daughters in Long Beach area.
On the way down, used the gift certificate for our anniversary to take a
Gondola Ride through the Naples canals. Cheaper than the Gondolas in
Venice, Italy. Very nice little mini cruise, beautiful weather, some nice
vino from our trip to Italy last October. A local wine from the Cinque Terre
made from raisins. Then down to San Diego and some fishing from the party
boats out of Seaforth Landing to the La Jolla kelp beds. Not much catching.
Some Kayak fishing on Mission Bay, little catching there either. And a
couple of kayak trips without fishing on Mission Bay, with some fish
sighted. A lot of boogie boarding the surf of the Mission Beach area and
some bike rides around the area. Watching the Sea World fireworks at night
from the house. Up to the LA area on the way home to other daughters and a
nice fishing trip to Catalina Island yesterday from Redondo Beach. Lots of
catching. Mostly Mackeral and Calico Bass. A couple of Sheepshead and Kelp
fish. Beautiful 80 degree water and calm seas.

You mentioned La Jolla, but didn't mention Black's Beach. Is it no longer the
beach it used to be?

been taken over by sea lions and one of the nicest childrens beach areas in
the world, can not be reclaimed as you can not legally bother a sea lion.

Black's Beach was a nudist (clothes optional) beach down the cliff from La
Jolla. Maybe they started enforcing the law, which, I believe, made public
nudity illegal. I'm talking about the mid-70's here, so things may have changed.

Blacks Beach is still there, and I understand clothes are still optional.
But after 18 years of going to SD, I do not go to the tourist draws very
often. Mostly surf, kayak, fish, eat.

When ever you get up this way, let me know and I would be glad to show you
around up here. Some good fishing up this way . As for the wedding all I can
say is better out of your pocket than mine lol Is this the last daughter ?
If not you might want to start investing now lol

Island trip next year, but a couple of friends are planning a drive to
Alaska, so may have to wait a year to take up the boat to Washington and
Vancouver. Plus I think the youngest daughter is getting engaged later
this year, so have to be here for a big party / wedding. Said I am
retired so you have to have a cheap wedding. Answer, was NO!, gets the
same as the older daughter. I will be up to 2/3rds of a Davis Rock Harbor
25 in wedding costs before I know it.

The funniest thing about this beach, within walking distance from Camp
Pendleton, was seeing the Marines with their sunburned butts!

Will maybe take you up on it. Last daughter, and I have invested well. I
may bitch about gas prices, but I have a lot of money in oil stocks. I have
a simple investment strategy. Oil, health and sin. They always pay well.
I am against smoking, but Altria has done well for me. To old to start
investing, been doing it for over 40 years. Retired Silicon Valley
engineer, with a small general contracting business in my retirement years,
to keep me from being bored.
