Default On Topic: Fallout from New Orleans and Gas Price Inreases

I was at my local marina on Friday. The owner and I were talking about the
effect of rising gas prices. They told me how everything was going up
significantly from wood delivery being cut from every two weeks to once a
month, so they had to find room for the extra wood (there's camping at the
lake). The septic service has gone up $100. They've been giving their
minimum wage employees bonuses in their pay checks to help cover the price
of gas to get to and from the lake. And boat rentals for labor day weekend
were being cancelled as quick as they could answer the phone; folks were
choosing to stay home and have a picnic, etc. The rental cancellations were
a direct result of New Orleans' effect on gas prices.
