I was at my local marina on Friday. The owner and I were talking about the
effect of rising gas prices. They told me how everything was going up
significantly from wood delivery being cut from every two weeks to once a
month, so they had to find room for the extra wood (there's camping at the
lake). The septic service has gone up $100. They've been giving their
minimum wage employees bonuses in their pay checks to help cover the price
of gas to get to and from the lake. And boat rentals for labor day weekend
were being cancelled as quick as they could answer the phone; folks were
choosing to stay home and have a picnic, etc. The rental cancellations were
a direct result of New Orleans' effect on gas prices.

I spent the afternoon installing a depth sounder on my boat. The boat is
parked in a fenced in lot owned by a pretty nice guy who is allowing me to
store it there for free.

Anyway....he pulled into the lot this afternoon to attend to some items with
his business (a lawn fertilizer company) and stopped to chat when he was
ready to leave. He said that fertilizer prices are going through the roof
because of the oil price situation. He is getting his also with additional
fuel cost for his fleet.

Last week I met with a company that manufactures custom molded PVC trays
for company's like Eveready to put their batteries and flashlights in.....my
contact said the cost of PVC pellets is going through the roof.

We are all going to be paying more for most everything we buy because of the
outrageous prices of oil.

The towelheads are laughing their asses off with every new million dollars
they make in a day.
