We used to hang from the rear bumper of a car in the winter time and get
pulled through the snow before the plows went through. Called it
"bumper-jacking". This was 20 years before they invented "CAR-jacking".
Another version was to hang on to the ventwindow post (for those of you who
remember vent windows) outside the driver's door, and "ski" through the
snow.

Geez, brings back memories--we really were mentally defective, but no CO
poisoning ever resulted from that, to my knowledge!!!

The pre-1964 Volkswagen Beetles were perfect for that.
Lots of kids here would hang around corners during a good snowstorm and
wait for the Beetles to come along up to a stop sign. They would run up
and latch on to the 'old style' bumpers.
Another favorite was the old electric trollies we ran from 1949 until
1969 ish. This is the rubber tired version with the double poles that
contacted the overhead wires. They had a good bumper you could ski
behind, or even jump up on for a free ride. I played it safe and
restricted myself to pulling those poles off the overhead wires when the
driver stopped. Boy...would they get mad!
