Fuel, Air, Compression, Spark....

Check fuel lines & filter for crud buildup or splits/holes. Check gas tank
for debris- flush out if found. Clean carb- take apart & rebuild if
necessary. Check choke for proper operation. Check spark plug- remove plug,
crank engine while holding attached plug with an insulated tool very close
to engine block- check for weak spark. If weak spark, check ignition system.
(Coil, points, wires, plugs, etc) Check cylinder compression. Check for
water (and/or antifreeze if closed system) in engine oil.

I bought a 1976 McKee craft cat cay with a 70hp Johnson outboard. The
problem I am having is that after the boat runs for an hour or so and
I idle for a few mins it will die and refuse to start for about a half
hour and then today I put into the water and it would not start. Had
plenty of battery to turn the moter over and new fuel mix but it would
not start, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in adance
Bill
